Men More Likely to 'Go Digital,' Study Says

Mcllelan, Steve. "Men More Likely to 'Go Digital,' Study Says" 9.10.09

This article is talking about how most men tune into digital media rather then the traditional types such as newspapers, and magazines. Whereas women tend to stay with the traditional forms of media. There is also a difference in the percentage of men and women who listen to the radio. Generally males think that the radio is outdated and that there are more current better ways to listen to music.

This study makes sense to me considering that men are generally more accepting to change then women are. Females tend to stay with old ways and traditions.

  1. I think that most men are the providers in their home, and expected to work, so they have to be up to date with all the new technology for work and to be accepted in society. However, the women are known as the nurturers, so they do not have the same urge to go digital. Women sometimes wait as long as they can to update themselves on new digital gadgets, or until everything is changing and you are unable to find the "old-fashioned, traditional" stuff out there. I think it would be interesting to read this article.

  2. I agree with this article and Janae's views on it. Men tend to get more digital, I think, for a variety of different reasons. One of the main reasons is, most of the time, men are the one's with a job that provides for their family. Usually these jobs equip men with high tech materials to use, so they can stay up to date wherever and whenever. I think men are a lot more interested in how new technology works because technology is starting to effect them so much. Lastly, it is very accessible for men to go digital. Women I believe don't want to waste their time figuring out how to use technology because it's not that important. Overall, I think whoever is the one working, will use new technology to stay updated.

  3. I completely agree with this article. Men are always trying to find the newest way of communicating and finding information. Technology is such a big part of our society these days that at least one member in the family should be up to date in recieving information. As the old methods die off, the new technologic methods jump in. Men are also more likely to talk about the new technology while women may be more likely to talk about the new styles of clothing. For the most part, men and women have different interests which is perfectly explained by the trend of men being more likely to go digital.
